THE BAND

South London Band the Stompers are recreating the sounds of the greatest swing bands of all time- Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and many more. After playing at London Lindy Exchange, Prohibition, Blitz Party and Last Days of Decadence they are coming back to their roots. Expect a raucous party!

THE VENUE

The Selkirk is one of London's finest boozers, with great food and a fine selection of beverages. Only 3mins walk from Tooting Broadway Tube Station it’s a great place to spend a Sunday, not only for music lovers, but also for dancers with its great wooden floor.

THE BIG APPLE

We will be running a workshop from 5:30pm until 7:30pm on the classic Whitey's Big Apple routine. Breaking with tradition we'll be going from the second half of the routine (where we all jump into a line), as it seems to be the section where most people run away! You don't have to know the first half of the routine and, although this class isn't suitable for absolute beginners, we won't be assuming a particularly intricate knowledge of authentic jazz steps.

Your teacher will be Sally Young, who recently won the London Jitterbug Championships, placing 1st in the Fast and Furious and Jack n' Jill contests and also taking 2nd place in the Stricly Lindy division. She discovered lindy hop right here in London during her university years. Since then she has taught regularly around the city as well as performing on stage and screen and organising the London Lindy Exchange. Combining speed and style, she is a die-hard social dancer and noted for bringing out individuality and expressiveness in her students.

The workshop will be £12 and can be booked below. Numbers are limited!
